No Seaming up!

1:00 pmto3:30 pm

Instructor: Sandi. One class meeting, $25

Wonderful yarn + great stitch pattern +16 or 24 inch circular needles = the perfect cool weather accessory!

In this class you will learn how to construct an impressive and unique, yet simple cowl. A stitch pattern and a few guidelines are all you need. This is the perfect project for yourself out of that skein of cashmere you’ve been eyeing, or a fast and easy knit using some of our new fall yarns for everyone on your holiday list. The cowl method is versatile, fun, very functional and the must have fashion accessory. I’ll bring stitch patterns and ideas to mix and match for a unique-to-you creation, you bring the yarn and needles and be ready for a fun and creative time!

Materials: approximately 100-150 yards worsted weight yarn. 16 or 24 inch circular needles in the size recommended for your chosen yarn. (You may want to bring a couple of different size needles if you have them, just to play a bit with gauge.) If you want a close fitting cowl, 16″ needles are great. If you want a big slouchy cowl, 24″ will work better.

10:30 amto1:30 pm

Instructor: Jeane deCoster 1 class 3 hours $35.00
Learn to be a hooker! Learn the skills necessary to make a dreamy rug out of unspun wool roving. This craft requires NO previous fiber or yarn experience of any kind. It’s easier on the brain and the hands than traditional rug hooking. In this class we’ll start a chair seat cover. There’s nothing like the cooooosh of wool pile under your toooooosh or your feet. Rug samples will be available to inspire future projects. Locker hooks will be available for use during the class or bring your own.

*Double-Fisted Knitting Two*

September 18, 2010
2:00 pmto4:00 pm

Instructor: Jeanne 1class $30.00
Class Description:
In our first class, we conquered knitting with one color in each hand. Now, it’s time to start a real project! Bring a sweater pattern (or idea) to this class and we’ll work through the ins and outs of making a Stranded (Fair Isle) project work for you! We’ll start by making the pattern fit you! We will work with some body measurements, details of where the garment steeks go, how to adjust the stitch pattern for size changes — and anything else you need to make your project a success. You’ll leave the class with “yarn on the needles” and the confidence to forge ahead!

Regardless of which hand you use to carry yarn when you knit, you’ll learn how to use both hands in this class. Choose a small project (hat band or small bag pattern provided) and learn the basics of handling multiple colors, creating steeks, managing yarn tension, reading color charts and . . . wait for it . . . CUTTING THE STEEKS! Previously knit samples will be provided for practicing cutting and finishing steeks.
