Petaluma Lavender and Bee farm

Posted on July 14 2015

lavenderfarm Saturday Morning my kids and I took a tour of the Lavender and Bee farm on Chapman Lane in Petaluma. It smelled so lovely! They have over 5,000 lavender plants, bees (of course) chickens, two Sicilian donkey, and a llama. The property is sits beautifully on a small hill. The owners were born and raised In Petaluma. And the wife, Joann, grew up on the property that is now the lavender farm. They have a small shop where they sell honey, beeswax candles, lotion bars, and lots of lavender. Mmm. I bought a giant ziplock bag of lavender all dried and brushed on the stems, a lotion bar, more lavender for cooking and the best honey I have ever had. (I've been putting the honey in my coffee... Which I usually drink black- it's amazing!) The tiny little buds smelled super good so I decided to make some sachets to sell at Knitterly. While making these little lovelies my house smelled divine! I made a huge mess letting the pieces fall all over my carpet. My vacuum will be smelling so good! These were fun to make. I made hearts and squares left a pretty big opening and poured the little buds in then stitched the whole shut. They smell great, will keep away bugs and go great with your clothes in the dryer. These will be for sale at Knitterly for $3.00 or you can go to the Lavender and Bee farm pick up a bag and make your own. I also made a heating pad with rice and we have already used it a bunch. Smells good, feels good, mmmm. Happy Summer! xx Ash
