Here at the shop, there are few things we love more than finding a pattern that is both easy to knit, and easy to wear. This summer, that pattern has been the Leonie tee by Cocoknits.
If you’ve been in the shop, you might have seen the several that we have made. Seriously, we’ve gone Leonie crazy, and now we want to share that craziness with all of you! We are kicking off a Leonie knit-a-long on August 1, and we’re inviting everyone to join!
Leonie has been a staple for us here at the shop. It looks amazing on everyone, and can be made out of just about anything. If you’re looking for inspiration for your own Leonie tee, check out some of the samples that we’ve already put together. We have used various Habu yarns, including A188 Linen Cotton, and the ever popular XS81 5/2 linen. We have also been experimenting with bespoke fabrics, making combinations of different yarns to create Leonies with unique color and drape.
Some of our favorite combos are:
Habu XS-81 5/2 linen (a worsted weight linen) X2
Habu A-188 linen paper (Size Medium = X6)
Habu N-100 Wide Cotton Gima (Size Medium = X10)
Habu N-98B Knitted Linen Tape (Size Large = X11)
We have been making lightweight summer Leonies here at the shop (summer in Sonoma County does stretch clear through September, after all), but with autumn fast approaching, we’ve been dreaming of woolly Leonies as well. Try adding a couple rows of garter stitch at the bottom hem to stabilize a winter Leonie made out of Twirl Petals, Radius Worsted, or some yummy Madelinetosh. With a design as straightforward as Leonie, the sky's the limit!
