We are almost two weeks into our Leonie KAL, and we are having so much fun watching all these Leonies come to life! So far, we have seen all kinds of linens, and cottons start to become breezy summer sweaters, but there are those of you who have been looking for something a little warmer. For those of you asking about a winter Leonie, we have put together some suggestions for yarns that will easily translate into the colder months. The beauty of the Leonie, what allows it to look so good on everyone, is that it is very drapey. So, when making a woolly Leonie, the trick is to create a fabric that insulates without adding bulk. With that in mind, we have created yarn pairings that combine wools with cottons and linens to ensure warmth as well as drape. Using a larger needle like a 9 or a 10 will help ensure that your wintery Leonie is both cozy and flattering.
Pairing Manos Lace with Habu N-65 Printed Cotton Gima combines wool with cotton, and allows for exploration of color with the variegated hues of N-65.
Combine Habu A-1/N-85 Tsumugi Silk with Shibui Cima for a Leonie with the softness of baby merino and the luster of silk.
Habu A-174 Cotton Gima brings crispness and structure to the gentle hand of Isager Alpaca Merino. Excellent for a warmer Leonie!
Enjoy the loftiness of Woolfolk Tynd paired with Habu N-20 Knitted Linen Tape.
Woolfolk Tynd paired with Habu A-174 Cotton Gima creates a fabric with a delicate halo, with enough drape to fit like a Leonie should.
Or try Woolfolk Tynd with Habu N-97 Linen Wrapped Silk and watch the silk create lovely depth of color.
These are just some of the amazing winter Leonies that we have been dreaming of in the shop! With all these options, there is a winter Leonie here for everyone.
