Knitting First Aid with Judith 1 class Saturday July 8th 11:00 - 2:00 pm
Become a more confident and capable knitter as you learn to recognize and fix your knitting mistakes. In this informative class you will learn these skills:
- How to read your stitches
- Ripping out (“frogging”) and unknitting (“tinking”)
- Fixing dreaded mistakes that every knitter makes: dropped stitches, incomplete stitches, twisted stitches in stockinette and garter
Homework: Three swatches of a solid light colored bulky weight yarn on a #10 needle, and do not bind off: leave both swatches on stitch holders and a long tail. Do not use DK, fingering or sport weight yarns.
Swatch #1: Cast on 20 stitches and knit flat in Stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row for app.15 rows, or to make a square)
Swatch #2: Cast on 20 stitches and knit flat in Garter stitch (knit all rows) for app.15 rows, or to make a square)
Swatch #3: Cast on 20 stitches and knit flat in 2x2 rib (knit 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches) for app.15 rows, or to make a square)
Bring your knit kit: scissors, locking stitch markers, a crochet hook similar in size to your #10 needles.
